About This Work
In this series of urban rooftop studies, Oonagh was concerned with the roofscapes observed from her windows, being drawn to the changes in colour in a chimney or roof brought about as Sunshine followed a rain shower. Her choice of colour was particularly affected by the contrasting lights and shades brought about on the brickwork detail by the low winter sun.
Artist Background
Oonagh graduated from the National College of Art and Design in Dublin in 1988 with a degree in Graphic Design and has worked as a designer and illustrator in graphic design, book design and advertising in London, New York and Sydney.
After teaching design and illustration for five years, Oonagh devoted her energies to painting, though continues to run art and creativity workshops for adults and children.
Oonagh’s work is exhibited at Hillsboro Fine Arts, Kennedy’s Gallery, and the Teer Gallery in Kerry and she has taken part in The Boyle Arts festival and had two very successful solo shows in 1998 and in summer 2006 in Dublin.
