About This Work
Majella works with inkjet prints and digital imagery. She takes everyday incidents and from the photograph, obscures, blurrs and distorts the image using painting and inkjet processes. Sometimes the original is indistinctly visible in the abstraction thus created but the image, mounted on aluminium, is vibrantly colourful and eye-catching.
Artist Background
After graduating with a distinction in painting and printmaking from both Galway and Limerick Institutes, Majella was again awarded a distinction in the MFA course of University of Ulster in 2006. She is currently pursuing a professional painting career as a member of Queen Street Studios in Belfast.
Majella has already achieved considerable success, winning the 2007 Tyrone Guthrie Bursary Award and the Meath County Council Commission for Unitruck, Lisburn, Belfast. She has exhibited work in a variety of galleries in Ireland and this year toured Hangzhou and Beijing in China with ‘Cead in China’
